In March 2018, Martin Hall, the last surviving member of 'Jolly Jack', a trio of mates that had a huge impact on my love of folk music from the mid 70's to the early 90's, sadly passed away.
Jolly Jack were, for me, one of the best acts that I ever had the pleasure to hear - fabulous harmonies, good instrumental skills and great banter.
To celebrate Martin's life a host of his friends held a memorial
concert for him, singing songs that he wrote, ones that he performed and ones
of their own repertoire that he enjoyed.
Needless to say a great night was enjoyed by all.
Unfortunately, due to prior commitments, I had to leave before The Bogtrotters
and Morranon took the stage bur I managed to catch everyone else and they
included:
The Hometowners, Cath Flemming and Steve Keene, Dave and Helen Howard, Ian Reynolds, Poppy Jane & Keith Towers, Pete Martin, Steve Canavan, The Flatcappers and Redmayne
