I recently bought a box of Victorian Glass slides that looked like they'd not been touched for years. Sadly, although there's an index template on the box lid, the only name written there is 'Ernest Timperley', who appears in the 1911 Census as a 'Calico Printer's Apprentice', aged 24, from Middleton and I think must have taken the original photos.
Since the slides were featured on BBC North West news programmes, I've uploaded this Gallery of those Slides along with an index number for each one.

The general consensus is that many of these photos were taken in and around the Rhodes area of Middleton near Manchester
If you can recognise any the scenes / people portrayed please let me know and I'll update the Webpage with the details

Thanks to local historian Harold Cunliffe, Colette Hopkins, Duncan Robinson and Mark Lewis for the information provided!
